Boeing Analytics of Serialized Parts
Role
Senior UX Designer & Digital Transformation Leader
Location
St. Louis
Executive Summary
I led the end-to-end product strategy and UX design for a mission-critical analytics platform used by flight ramp crews to prevent failed test flights caused by serialized part issues.
The outcome: a data-driven decision support tool that saved $30,000 per prevented terminated flight, reduced operational risk, and saved thousands of hours of manual effort—while demonstrating the business value of agile, user-centered design within a highly regulated defense environment.
The Strategic Problem
Flight ramp crews needed real-time visibility into serialized aircraft parts that could compromise test flights. Prior processes were fragmented, manual, and reactive thus creating risk, delays, and significant financial impact.
The deeper challenge was not just surfacing data—it was:
• Translating complex operational and compliance requirements into an actionable interface
• Aligning stakeholders across engineering, product, and government-mandated constraints
• Defining the right minimum viable product in a high-stakes environment
• Introducing user-centered practices into traditionally output-driven teams
This was both a product and organizational transformation effort.
My Scope & Leadership
• Defined the product mission, vision, roadmap, and measures of success
• Led user research, synthesis, and prioritization
• Facilitated cross-functional alignment workshops
• Defined MVP through opportunity mapping (2x2 prioritization model)
• Designed and iterated low- and high-fidelity UI and data prototypes
• Guided product, engineering, and stakeholders through decision-making
• Mentored a design intern while leading UX direction
• Embedded analytics (Matomo) for live KPI tracking
This was not just design execution, but also strategic product leadership.
